Automated Security Patching
One of the advantages of our relationships with Microsoft is the receipt of early warnings (and patches) for all critical vulnerabilities and exploits. Enable provides an automated patching service to ensure that all hosted platforms are sufficiently secured. Enable has this option enabled by default on all servers. If the installed patch requires a reboot, this will be carried out between 1am and 5am every morning, however as this may not satisfy certain high availability service requirements, the option to disable this service is available. In this instance Enable require that a patching schedule is put in place to ensure patch levels are maintained, such as a manual service where the date and time is specified by the client. In addition patches are not always relevant therefore it is possible for clients to select only certain updates.
Cisco® IDS
Enable employs Cisco® Intrusion Detection System (IDS) as our first line of defence from unauthorised malicious network activity. Our IDS is a host-based system that constantly monitors server network connections to detect malicious activity. If suspicious network activity is detected, our team of security specialists are immediately notified and deployed to investigate the activity. This vigilant protection ensures business continuity and diminishes the effect of costly intrusions. IDS works in conjunction with other Enable security components to efficiently protect your data and information infrastructure.
Cisco® Pix 506 Firewalls
The Firewalls from Enable provide robust, enterprise-class, integrated network security, creating a strong multi-layered defensive service for dynamic network environments. The hardware device works with a set of rules, filtering traffic coming through the Internet into your systems. If an incoming packet of data is flagged up by the filters as against the rules that have been set up, it will not be allowed through. Enable only provide hardware firewalls which add an additional layer of security to your servers, stopping potentially malicious packets from ever reaching your network.
Vulnerability Scanning
Hundreds of new Internet vulnerabilities are being discovered annually and new service patches are being issued on a daily basis. Keeping track is a difficult problem, especially when service upgrades or simple firewall rule changes risk adding serious security holes. Disclosure laws and regulation (e.g. HIPAA, California's Security Breach Information Act, European data protection acts) penalise organisations and management that do not take steps to protect their networks. To address these problems Enable provides a managed automated vulnerability scanning service.
The reports are suitable for both regulatory audit purposes and technical administration. The service is updated daily, with new exploit tests and advisory information. One off, quarterly or monthly scans are available.
Verisign SSL Certificate
Enable offers two varieties of VeriSign SSL Server IDs as part of its secure site services - 40-bit SSL Secure Server IDs and 128-bit Global Server IDs. Each variety enables different levels of SSL encryption power that vary according to the browser version used by visitors to sites secured by the Server ID. The SSL certificate included with your Site Trust service enables visitors to verify your site's authenticity and to communicate with it securely via state-of-the-art SSL encryption, which protects confidential information from interception and hacking.
