"We do not believe there is any conflict between commercial success and social or environmental responsibility. The greater our economic performance the more credible example we can set for other businesses."

Company Enable's Environmental Policy

We are committed to running a commercially successful sustainable business and using resources responsibly with due regard for the future generations.

It is an important duty of this organisation, in the conduct of its business operations, to ensure that it respects the environment. In addition to complying with legislation, the organisation aims to minimise any negative impact we may incur on the environment throughout our day-to-day business activities. The organisation believes in continually reviewing and improving environmental performance and encourages suppliers and clients to promote similar values.

Some of the recent steps the organisation has taken to reduce the impact upon the environment are:

  • Recycling of waste paper and print cartridges.
  • Allowing employees to work from home to reduce the carbon emissions caused by commuting.
  • Sharing cars where appropriate.
  • Using public transport where possible.
  • Providing secure cycle storage and showers.
  • Using motion detectors to switch off lighting when it is not required.
  • Encouraging employees to turn off non-essential equipment overnight.
  • The use of video conferencing to reduce the need to travel.
  • The use of glasses and mugs to reduce reliance on disposable cups.

Renewable Energy - Enable are focussed on how it can reduce its use of energy and are always looking at renewable sources for supply of electricity. Enable has a policy of reducing the amount of electricity that it uses - a switch off lights policy is in place within the business.

We work to high standards of environmental stewardship across all areas of activity and a major focus is on our Environmental Management System.

We are constantly working to ensure that we are compliant with all relevant legislation, other guidance and best practice principles.

We work hard to ensure that environmental impacts are evaluated and managed when developing policy, initiating major development and change, and when reaching key investment and disinvestment decisions .
